Hi, my name is Owen Lewthwaite.
I am pursing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Western University, with a focus on Guitar - (Electric and Acoustic). In addition to my formal music education and training, I have also taken various camp leadership programs.*
Strum This Way, was born from my lifelong passion for music, learning and playing guitar, and sharing my joy of music with others, particularly with children and teens.
My skills and passion as a musician, as well as my natural ability to relate to and engage children in a fun and relaxed way, is what makes Strum This Way unique.
*Certifications: First Aid/CPR (renewed 2025), High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development (2022), Leader-In-Training at Earthbound Kids (2022), Vulnerable Sector Police Check (2025), University Level Music Theory I and II (2024/2025)
My approach to teaching guitar is centred on each individual's needs and learning styles. I understand that some children need a calm and patient approach while others thrive on high energy and movement. Whatever the approach, my goal is always to structure lessons in a way that brings joy to the process of learning to play guitar.
*Please note that I do not follow the Royal Conservatory of Music Curriculum
Feel free to reach out with any questions, inquiries, or to book a lesson.
